A Trace of Love: Finding Him in the Little Moments

Some connections never really leave us.
They just begin to show up in quieter, more meaningful ways.

We are so honored to share Tracy Parker’s story with our community, a story that beautifully reflects how love continues, even after loss. Tracy is also the heart behind the Trace of Love Instagram page, where she shares these gentle reminders that our loved ones are still with us in spirit, in memory, and in the smallest, most unexpected moments.

For Tracy, that love belongs to her dad, Dan.

Born on December 26, 1949, and passing on May 2, 2022, Dan left behind a presence that is still deeply felt today, not just in memories, but in the way his love continues to show up.

The Little Things That Stay Forever

It’s often the simplest things that stay with us the longest.

For Tracy, it’s her dad’s love for the beach and sunsets, those peaceful, golden moments where everything feels still and connected. It’s also the phrases that became part of who he was.

“It is what it is.”
And when life got a little chaotic…
“Mayday, mayday.”

These words didn’t just make people smile; they became part of the rhythm of life. Now, they’ve taken on an even deeper meaning. Tracy shares that “mayday, mayday” is often how she calls on him now, a quiet way of asking for a little help from above.

Because sometimes, love sounds like the same words… just spoken in a different direction.

A Moment That Meant Everything

Not long after her dad passed, Tracy found herself on a spring break trip with her son and his cousins. It was a rare kind of trip, the kind where everyone is together, fully present, and you just know how special it is while it’s happening.

The kind of moment you wish you could hold onto forever.

As they settled in for their first beach day, her dad’s favorite place, something small, but extraordinary, happened.

A baby dragonfly landed on Tracy’s knee.

And it stayed.

Longer than you would expect. Long enough to be noticed. Long enough to feel different.

In that moment, it didn’t feel random.

It felt like him.

A quiet, beautiful reminder that he was there… seeing the cousins together, sharing in the joy of a place he loved so much. A small sign, but one that carried so much meaning.

A trace of love.

When Love Shows Up Differently

Grief changes us. But so does love.

And sometimes, the two exist side by side, woven together in ways we don’t always expect. A memory, a phrase, a place, or even something as simple as a dragonfly can suddenly feel like a bridge between here and somewhere beyond.

These moments don’t erase the loss.
But they soften it.

They remind us that the connection didn’t end, it just changed form.

Just like in so many of the stories we’ve shared before, including Kendall’s, where love continues through signs, traditions, and meaningful moments, Tracy’s experience is another beautiful reminder that we are never truly alone in our grief.

Carrying Him Forward

Today, Tracy continues to honor her dad not only in her personal life, but by creating space for others to see and share their own “traces of love.”

Through her Instagram page, she reminds people to look for the signs, to trust the moments that feel too meaningful to be a coincidence, and to stay open to the ways love continues to reach us.

Because sometimes, it’s not about searching for something big.

It’s about noticing what quietly lands right in front of you.

A dragonfly.
A memory.
A familiar phrase.

A reminder that they’re still with us… just in a different way.

We’re so grateful to Tracy for sharing her story with us.
